First up to the plate is Calvin Johnson's (of Beat Happening) side-project, Dub Narcotic Sound System. I found out about this band through vinyl which is a rare occasion for me since I'm such a digital baby. I bought this particular seven-inch and really fucking enjoyed it. I played it a lot about a year ago when I was having people over my house for parties and it turned out it was the perfect groovy get-together music. See how it goes for you. It's real funky and bass-oriented type music along with Calvin Johnson's deep voice. You get the picture.
This was their first EP I think, put out on Calvin's own, K Records back in '95. They toured with the likes of Built to Spill, Fugazi and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. DIY indie-funk!
